What epoxy countertops are
Epoxy countertops are made by pouring a thick resin layer over an existing countertop or new substrate. The resin can be tinted, veined or mixed with metallic pigments to look like marble, granite, metal or water.
Remodels after storms
Homeowners rebuilding after water damage often want new counters quickly and affordably. Epoxy can go over many existing tops or new plywood substrates, saving time and cost.
Coastal designs
Blue, teal and white swirls that mimic water are popular here, along with classic white marble, black and gold metallic and solid colors.
Bars and outdoor kitchens
Home bars and covered outdoor kitchens are great candidates. We use UV-resistant topcoats for areas that see sunlight.
Durability and care
Epoxy is hard and stain-resistant but can scratch, and it is not heat-proof. Use cutting boards and trivets. Clean with mild soap and water.
The process
We protect the area, prepare and prime, pour the base, create the design and finish with a clear coat. Most projects take two to three days.
Cost factors
Price depends on size, edges, design and the condition of the existing counter. Quotes are itemized.
Questions
Send photos and measurements, and we will tell you whether your counter is a good candidate.
Bathroom vanities
Older vanities with cultured marble or laminate tops can be refreshed with epoxy. The seamless surface resists water and humidity and wipes clean. We mask sinks and fixtures carefully for a built-in look.
Restaurants and bars
Bar tops and counters in local restaurants and bars get heavy use. Epoxy creates a durable, glossy surface that stands out and cleans quickly between customers.
Laundry rooms and workbenches
Laundry folding counters and garage workbenches benefit from a wipeable, chemical-resistant surface that can be poured to fit any shape.
What to avoid
Epoxy does not tolerate hot pans placed directly on it, and badly damaged substrates may need replacing first. We tell you honestly whether epoxy is a good fit.
Preparing for install
Clear the counters, remove small appliances and plan to use another space for meals for a couple of days. We protect cabinets, floors and walls, keep the work area tidy and explain any precautions for pets or children.
How long they last
With normal care, an epoxy countertop can look good for many years. Light scratches can be buffed out, and the surface can be recoated if it ever needs a refresh.
Humidity and cure
Epoxy needs controlled conditions to cure properly. We run air conditioning or dehumidifiers during the pour and cure, so humidity does not cloud the finish. That step is easy to overlook and makes a real difference on the coast.
Matching your style
We bring samples, discuss lighting and cabinetry and help you choose a look that fits the room, from soft coastal swirls to classic marble or bold metallics.
Kitchen islands and tabletops
Kitchen islands, dining tables and outdoor bar tops make striking epoxy projects. Large surfaces show off the flow of metallic and marble designs. We can pour over existing islands or build new tops on plywood substrates, with edge profiles to match your cabinets. Ask us to bring examples so you can see the depth and gloss in person.
Curious about a specific look? We can make a small sample board in your chosen colors so you can hold it against your cabinets, backsplash and flooring and see it in your own light before we pour anything in the kitchen.
